1. Give Some Attention To Your Inner Lashes
Often, we ladies forget how important it is to coat the inner eyelashes. Applying mascara only to the outer and middle corners of the eyes can change the overall eye shape and make it look narrow. If you want to highlight every part of your eye, you need to apply mascara on the inner, middle, and outer sides.
2. Dust Your Lashes With Some Baby Powder
Using a small brush, dust some baby powder or translucent powder on your lashes. The powder does a great job in holding the mascara to your lashes, which gives your lashes an overall thicker appearance.
3. Get Rid Of The Glob Using A Tissue Paper
If you closely observe the mascara wand, you would notice the formation of a thick glob at the tip. These globs can lead to uneven product distribution especially over the shorter lashes. Dab the tip of your mascara on a tissue to remove such globs.
4. Make The Mascara Wands Flexible
The one tip that makeup artists always give out is the importance of bending your mascara wand. Though it can be hard to do so with the thought of snapping your brush constantly lingering in your mind, it won’t do any harm if you bend the tip gently. With the newly bend shape, the wand could now reach all corners of your eyes easily.
5. Use A Lash Primer
When applying a lash primer, especially a white one, make sure to wait for at least 10 to 30 seconds before applying your mascara. The primer needs to be dry in order for the color of your mascara not to look diluted.
6. A Little Bit Heat For A Thin Formula
All mascaras start getting clumpy at one point in time. In such a scenario, a little bit of heat can go a long way by thinning the solution. Tightly secure the cap of your mascara, and place it in a glass of hot water. Nevertheless, if your mascara or wand is more than 3 months old, you better replace it.
7. Apply Multiple Coats
Putting several coats of mascara on one eye at a time can lead to a really thick looking coat. In order to achieve a more defined look, switch between both the eyes when applying multiple coats. For instance, after applying the first coat on your right eye, move to your left. This helps the coats dry up a little bit before you put on the next one.
8. Use Toothbrush To The Rescue
In case you overdid your mascara a little bit too much, bring in a toothbrush and use it to comb through the lashes. This saves your time as you wouldn’t have to start over because of spider eyes.
9. Don’t Pump Your Mascara Wand
Pumping the wand is something that we do every day. However, it actually is a bad habit that forces air into the mascara leading to bacterial infections. Rather than pumping, gently twirl the wand to distribute the product evenly.
10. Replace The Mascara When Necessary
Replacing your mascara can be a really emotional job. Nevertheless, if you have just recovered from an illness that affected your eyes, you need to replace the germ-filled mascara as soon as possible. Continued use can lead to your illness last longer.
